Impossible translation

General Assembly, London, 2024

The exhibition plays with the history of salon hanging, bringing paintings into close visual relation so that one work alters the reading of the next. The paintings begin with rapid drawing on raw canvas, then develop through successive layers that preserve, obscure or redirect the first marks. The installation extends that process into the room, treating hanging itself as another stage in how an image is read.
